We welcomed Woody the reading dog back into school this afternoon.
He was very proud to award reading champion badges to children who were nominated for demonstrating a love of reading. Their job will be to promote and encourage reading across the school. We also had the Shropshire Star come into school to take photographs of the reading champions with Woody, so please look out for them in the newspaper in the coming days.
Woody had just enough time to listen to some readers in Class 4 and Class 5 this afternoon and was very sorry that he couldn’t get round to the other classes, He has, however, left a poster for every child in school, which has been ‘pawtographed’ by himself.
We will be welcoming Woody (and his owner, Anne) back into school during autumn term.
In the meantime, make sure you read at least 3 times a week!
Thank you for the photos already sent into school for our ‘get caught reading’ display. They are making a wonderful display in our corridor, but we do need more!
If you haven’t already sent a picture where you have been caught reading, it isn’t too late to join in. I would like to create a huge display in the library over the summer, with all the different places you have been caught reading in and the pets/people who have shared a book with you.
Get creative, then get your photo emailed into school for printing. Every picture received will be entered into a draw for a one-to-one reading session with Woody the reading dog when he returns on Wednesday 18th July.

Class 2 Homework for this week.
Reading: Create a book review on your favourite book. Tell me why this is your favourite book. Don’t give too much away about the storyline, but just enough information to make me want to read your book. Can you include lots of adjectives, adverbs, different sentence types? You can either handwrite your review or type it on the computer.
Maths: Learn x2, x5 and x 10 tables for a game of ’round the world’ next week.

In Class 2, we have been learning about Rainforests. The children were set a challenge to create a rainforest in a box. The children have done a wonderful job of demonstrating their learning through labelling the different layers of the rainforest, as well as including the animals found in each layer. Well done!
